Since I was a little girl, I was endlessly making things. Whether it be coloring (which I still love to do), playing with my fashion plates, taking pictures, cross-stitching, I was the one who loved to put things together just to create something new. Throughout High School I worked for the Limited Brands and loved every minute of working in retail! I learned a tremendous amount about fashion retail, inventory, visual marketing and more.
Although I wasn’t voted “best dressed” my senior year, I was able to reach my personal goal of not wearing the same exact outfit twice during that year. Weird goal to have, but for a fashion groupie like myself, at the time, it was an important goal and I crushed it! Don’t judge!
I applied for fashion design school in PA and was accepted, yet I lacked confidence to stray that far from home (I come from a very small town), so I ended up close to home studying marketing. Life happened, I never finished college and I was stuck behind a computer for 15 years making great money but not the least bit happy with this career path. I eventually went back to college and graduated in my early 30’s with a degree in multi-media technology. Having no luck finding a job in that field, I continued the desk job for another few years.
A few years later with an itch to be creative, I became an entrepreneur, quite by accident and not in the fashion world. I started a line of wedding decor on Etsy, which quickly exploded and I quit my desk job. My husband was able to quit his corporate job and we could be at home for our children. All is great right? Not quite. Etsy went public and my awesome business went downhill and quickly, which we were not prepared for.
After many failed attempts at expanding into different business revenues, hitting rock bottom, being broke, my husband being forced to go back into the workforce, it was time for some serious soul searching and a lot of compromising.
I hustled, taught myself how to sew, networked with other smart and savvy business women, took business courses, researched and absorbed any and all information I could get my hands on. I’m not an overnight success. I work hard every day on my vision. It’s the hard times, the low points that builds me up to keep me going on this journey. The journey to create confidence in women all over the world with stylish fashion, created using high quality standards and thoughtful designs. Regardless of where you are in your life, what path you are on, what age you are, it’s never to late to follow your dreams.
Having once lacked the confidence to pursue what I always dreamed to do, 20 years later, I’m proud to say… I’ve found it. I’m grateful for my family, friends, business mentors and loyal customers who continue to support me and the apparel that I’ve dreamed of designing for so long.
